Much needed pictures

Not much has happened around here. We are both pushing through the end of semester craziness with school. Boy has it been busy. We had a fun Thanksgiving break with my family down in St. George. We did see the Blind Side, which was amazing. It made me want to be super mom. And Brook actually sat through the whole movie!! I also saw New Moon with my girlfriends, and of course that was amazing. Everything I hoped it would be!! Brook has stared talking like crazy. She picked up dozens of new words while we were in St. George. She learned "Nana," "Papa," "Dat" for Zach, and she babbles sentences that are starting to sound like words, like "dis is da ba" (this is the bath), which she says while she is by the bathtub. She can also sign "more" and "please" as well as fold her arms and say "Amen." She has hit her stride I guess! And of course Nana couldn't resist giving her her Christmas presents early. She gave her a baby doll with a crib, a stroller, and a high chair. She also got her a chest with prncess dresses. Spoiled? hehe. Enjoy some pics!

She loves to wear the basket as a hat.

Favorite day of the year!

In honor of my favorite day of the entire year (the end of daylight savings time), I decided I should write on my blog! Today has been exceptionally great because we have had such a productive morning. We all woke up at 8 and played for a while. I got Brookie all dressed up and did her hair, which turned out super cute! Her hair is getting so long that she has real pigtails now. They even had little curls in them! She looked adorable. I had an enrichment meeting, and Jeff had PPI's to do. I took Brook with me, and she was so good. I couldn't believe it! Then she and I came home and made a scrumptious breakfast and cleaned the kitchen. (That is a big deal for me, as I have become so lazy about cleaning haha!) I also made brownies for dinner with Jeff's family tonight. I was going to go to church, but Brook is asleep. I didn't have the heart to wake her up. She would have had to wait extra long for her nap with the time change, and I didn't have the heart. (or the patience, let's be honest) :) I have a feeling Jeff and I will just have to take turns going to church until we switch to the 9:00 schedule. I am really looking forward to that. I feel inactive because I have missed so much church with Brook.
Anyway, for those of you who were wondering, I survived midterms! SIGH! I studied tons for the one I knew would be the hardest, and it turned out better than I expected. Then one of my teachers decided to take pity on us and let us write about what we have learned so far this semester (closed book). It was so much easier than actually taking a test. And I finished my huge open-book midterm last week as well. Now that those are over, lots of other deadlines are coming up! It just never ends. This week, I am doing a diagnostic session with a 2-year-old boy. He is not talking, so his mom is bringing him in. We all get a client we have to do a diagnostic on this semester. Mine will be kind of fun because it will be several different play assessments to try to get him to do certain behaviors and basically just observe how he communicates. I am practicing the big test on my nephew later today to help relieve some of my anxiety and give me a better understanding of what the heck I am doing! My supervisor will probably be in there most of the time with me, but I would like to look like I know what I am doing, ya know? I think it will be fun though.
Brooklynn has just grown up so fast! She is now saying: "mine," "baby," "hi dadda" (not hi momma!), and "tooter" (scooter). She can also point to her nose, her mouth, her belly, and her piggies (toes). I just can't believe how grown up she is! She has been my little buddy this weekend too, which I love because I don't see her all week. She keeps sitting on my lap and snuggling me. She has also started pulling me to the kitchen to get what she wants. That is pretty funny. I just love her! Of course, the rest of the week, she and Jeff are buddies. She gets so upset when he leaves her. It's really sweet. I am glad they have each other! I think Jeff enjoys it as well.
Oh yeah! Jeff like deep-cleaned the kitchen this week. WOW! I never thought I would see the day. And of course ever since, he has been on my case about keeping it clean. This is a new side of Jeff. He is taking over all my duties. I am so lucky to have such a great partner and husband. He takes good care of us. :)

St. George

So I decided Sundays are great for updating the Blog. We will see how long this lasts. haha. I went to St. George last week to do hearing screenings for the World Senior Olympics. It was actually a lot of fun. It wasn't as busy as we were hoping, but we still had a great time and got some good experience. Now I have no anxiety about performing hearing screenings haha. All of the people who came in had to make the same jokes too. Us: Are you here for the hearing screening? Them: What? or...I can't hear my wife, does that mean I have a hearing loss? It was great. I bonded with all of my classmates too, so now I have lots more friends. I didn't take my camera so I didn't take any pictures, but the other students took some pretty great ones. We had more down time than work time it seemed. I also got to see my family while I was down there. I spent all night Tuesday with just my dad as everyone else was gone at the mutual activity. Then Wednesday, I watched my sister's cross country race, grabbed dinner, and drove down to Vegas with my mom and sister. My sister flew out to North Carolina for UEA weekend to stay with some friends. LUCKY! The drive was a lot longer than I thought it would be lol. Then my mom took me out to lunch on Thursday, so that was fun. Then we got home around 10Thursday night. I was super excited to see Jeff and Brookie again. Especially Brook! (sshhh) :) Jeff said he didn't even notice I was gone...how sad is that? haha. Midterms are this week. I am pretty stressed about that. There is so much to do! I better stop thinking about it since this is my day off! And now poor Brookie has an ear infection. I had a feeling it was coming because she has been sick for so long. But just as her sinus infection was going away, she got an ear infection. I have a feeling she is getting more teeth as well. She keeps chewing on her sippy cup and putting it in this one spot. I am scared to stick my fingers in there tho because she is a biter! But she is happy though it all. I just love her. Jeff starts his block classes this week, so hopefully he can handle being a little busier while being a stay at home dad. :) What a trooper!

Long Lost McCleve's

I don't know if anyone will even bother reading this after so long! I started grad school at BYU a little over a month ago. Life has not been the same since. Jeff sort of lost his job and decided to go back to school as well. It has been quite the experience for him. He is having to relearn how to study and do pretty much everything related to school. Luckily, he started with a light load. I have been super super busy trying to keep up with everything in my program. I'm taking 5 classes and working with 2 clients. I aslo TA for someone, and spend about 10 hours every other week grading quizzes. My spare time is getting smaller as the weeks progress and midterms come closer. I am going down to St. George this week with my classmates to do hearing screenings for the World Senior Olympics. I am excited and nervous. And Jeff will be all by himself with Brookie for 3 days.
He has been an amazing support since I started school. He takes care of everything at home, so I don't have to worry about it. He stays home with Brook a lot. She has been going to daycare a few days a week. We are in the process of looking for someone new because this first lady has not been what we expected. She presented herself very well and had an impressive "resume," but almost every time Jeff went to pick up Brook, she was in a crib while this lady was on Facebook, and the other kids were not being supervised. We started to think that this was happening too often, and we were getting the impression that Brook was spending a lot of time in a crib. I really hope we can find someone fast. Jeff has a light load this week, but he starts his block classes next week.
Life sure is crazy these days. I'm just so glad Jeff has been able to be home with her more the past few weeks. She has bonded with him so much, and it's adorable to see. It makes me a little jealous b/c that used to be me, but I have to get through school! I really do enjoy it. I am learning so much. I just hate missing so much of what is going on with little Brookie. She is gorwing up so fast! She is already climbing like a monkey. We can't stop her no matter what we do. She is getting so tall that we can't keep hardly anything out of her way. She is full of energy! And I swear she gets bigger and cuter everyday.
So there you have it. As a result, I have become an even worse blogger than before! I will try to update at least once a month.

Cinderella!

It's been a while...

Wow I am terrible at this blogging thing. Brookie is down to only one nap a day now, and that is my only free time. I have been using that free time to read. I am obsessed! The library has been my best friend the past couple of months. I gotta stock up on good books before school starts and I will never be able to read! Some that I recommend are: Spare Change by Aubrey Mace, Hearts in Hiding by Betsy Brannon Green, Twice in a Lifetime by Rachel Ann Nunes (the last in the Ariana series), Deadly Little Secret...found it in the teen fiction can't remember the author...but way good, and any book by Marnie Pehrson--my favorite of hers is Waltzing with the Light.
Anyway...almost a month ago, we had the opportunity to go to Carlsbad, CA with my family. It was a lot of fun. We spent a day a Knotts Berry Farm, and that wore everyone out! We spent a day at Disneyland...that was so fun, but not enough time! My mom had to by Brookie a princess dress, so we settled on this adorable Tinkerbell dress...with shoes and a little flower tiara thingy. (The joys of being the only grandchild!) We spent the rest of the time at the beach, and that was so great! Brookie loved playing in the sand, but she did not like the ice cold water at all. She cried if I even tried to take her near it. Jeff learned how to boogy board and loved that. And I worked on my tan while playing with Brook...it had been 2 years since I had seen the sun so I needed a lot of work hehe. The last night was really rough because Brookie was suffering from molars! She was awake crying the entire night. I finally got her to play for a while and she wore herself out. Then she did it again the next night while we were back at my parents' house. Boy was I glad to get home and get some sleep after that!
In other news...we sold our car, so now we are a one car family. Jeff has decided to go back to school full time at UVU and work part time for his dad. Work has been really slow, so we decided it was time he start moving on with his life. It's going to be really hard with both of us in school, but we know that this is what we need to be doing right now. It will work out somehow!
I'm really sad to see the summer coming to an end. It is always my favorite time of year...sunshing just makes me happy! And Brookie and I have been having lots of fun. She is starting to like the pool better, and she loves to play outside. She runs up and down the hill nonstop, which makes me nervous so I have to follow her closely hehe. And she loves to climb the chairs out on our deck or swing in the hammock. She is very active. School starts in 2 weeks for Jeff and 2 1/2 weeks for me. I am excited and terrified for it all!

The Hourglass Door

I just read the most amazing book over the weekend, and I wanted to tell everyone about becaues I loved it so much. I think it is going to be the next "Twilight" series because it is that good. It is called "The Hourglass Door" by Lisa Mangum. She says the second one will hopefully out next May. Man I hope I can wait that long! I finished reading the book and just obsessed over it the entire weekend. And when I read another book, it just seemed dull compared to this one. I think all you ladies will really enjoy it. I sure did. I could read it over and over again! And I saw the Proposal last night...also amazing! I laughed the entire time. And it was so cute. Ryan Reynolds is my new celeb crush haha. It was a really enjoyable movie seriously. Just wanted to pass these tidbits on! If you're looking for some great entertainment, there are 2 places to go!

Birthday party!

Brookie turned 1 on June 7th! AAHH!! I can't believe it. She has been the best baby I could ever ask for. She just grows to be more fun everyday. I love her so much. We had a couple of friends over to do the celebratory cake eating party, and boy did she get the stuff everywhere! She just dug her fingers in and started smearing. I don't even think she ate anything. It was so fun tho. We got her a new outfit and a toy and this huge chair-shaped pillow that she loves to snuggle on. I have loved every day of motherhood so far. And I love the intense bond I have with her. She is a doll. I'm stressing out right now because she just got a test vaccine for meningitis on Friday (we are participating in a study for it) and she has almost completely lost her appetite. I should probably talk to the nurse about it, but I'm not sure what can be done really. I have tried feeding her everything in our kitchen, but the only things she eats are applesauce and snack foods. Hopefully this doesn't last more than a week...that's what they predicted...but we'll see. I'm wondering if I should try giving her pedialite in the mean time? Any idea?
Other than that...things have been crazy. I am almost done with my first term. My final is tomorrow. YAY! I have a cold right now, so I don't feel too great. We bought a new car this weekend. We have been trying to get rid of our Mazda, which we leased a little over 2 years ago. We haven't been able to drive it because we used almost all the miles. So we ended up being able to trade it in for a 2006 Hyundai Elantra with only 34000 miles on it. We were so excited b/c the price of the car itself was $6900, but we had to roll in the remainder of our lease, and there are so many freaking fees from the dealership! We ended up borrowing way more than I thought. We did put some money down to try to counteract the negative equity from our lease, but not enough apparently. I couldn't believe how many fees we had to pay. So...I thought we were being all smart, but in the end it didn't turn out as well as I hoped. And the only downside to the car is it smells heazvily of smoke...which we will hopefully get rid of on Thursday!
Oh yeah! Jeff redid our bathroom the other weekend. It looks amazing. We bought new towels and a shower curtain...and that fueled the redoing the bathroom. I painted it, and I am so proud of my work! And Jeff redid the floor with some tile his dad gave him...and it looks amazing. I will have to try to post a picture.
I think that's it for now. I'll post some pictures!

Free time!

Well, I have some free time! I did not see this coming lol. I really wanted to read a book, but I don't have any new ones to read. I just finished one yesterday, so I am out of luck! School has been great. It was super scary at first, but after my first session with my client, my anxiety level went way down. I got ahead of schedule, so now I really don't have anything to do on my days off, which is great. I am trying to soak up all the Brookie time I can get. I am taking a Traumatic Brain Injury class, and I am totally freaked out after every class. I just want to hide in my house! I hope I will be able to work with clients with TBI. It just makes me so sad to see. I really enjoy working with my client. He is a cute little boy. My supervisor overloads me with ideas for activities with him, which is so helpful. It makes me feel like I know what I am doing haha.
Our lives really are not very exciting. Jeff and I have actually had opportunities to hang out just the 2 of us while Brookie sleeps, but we didn't know what to do! We just watched TV and played on his iphone. I can't believe how lame we are. haha. We have become really good friends with our neighbors downstairs. It's so great b/c they just come over all the time and talk with us for hours. That is probably the highlight of our lives right now...besides Brookie lol.
We did get new tires this weekend...which is really exciting for me because our Jeep was so loud and so bumpy with the old tires...and now, we can actually talk to each other in there instead of having to yell at each other. And we can hear the music at a normal level.
Brookie turns one soon! We are having her birthday Saturday, so I will have to remember to take pictures! That's about it...I really feel like I have just been rambling but oh well. I will post some pic of Brookie to spice things up!

Much needed updates!

I just don't know where the time has gone. It has been the busiest month ever! I decided to go to BYU for grad school after I received a generous scholarship for the first year! I am so excited...and nervous because I start on Wednesday! I got to walk for graduation on Friday, and that was really exciting as well. My family drove up, and Jeff's parents and one of his brothers came down. It was a really nice day. Jeff and I had the opportunity to go to San Francisco a little over a week ago with a couple of our really good friends. We had so much fun!! We left Brooklynn with his family. I am in love with that place now. We were there for 3 days and barely stopped to catch our breath. Thursday, we got in about 9:30. We drove down to San Jose because we wanted to visit the Winchester House. I had never heard of it before, but it was really cool. This lady...Mrs. Winchester...believed that her house was haunted by the ghosts of people who were killed by the Winchester Rifle. So she built this house that she planned to never finish and kept building on it until she died. It is 24,000 sguare feet! We only went through about 100 of the rooms. She built staircases that went no where, as well as doors that opened up to walls and windows over walls. She was apparently trying to confuse the ghosts. She was about 4'10" and had bad knees so half of the stairs in the house are "minirisers," and they are about 2 inches tall, so you have to take like 3 at a time for a normal step. I'll try to put up some pictures. It was just a really neat house. While down there, we walked through some shops like Gucci and other places we could never ever afford, but it was fun and beautiful.
The next day, we walked around Fisherman's Warf at pier 39 and did some shopping and sightseeing. We started walking through downtown, thinking we could walk to the Golden Gate Bridge, but soon realized it was a lot farther than we thought. We did stop by Ghiradelli Square and get some of their ice cream! YUM! And then took the bus to the bridge. This was the one thing I really wanted to see. We walked across the bridge and back, and I loved every minute of that! We wore out my friend Kara, as she is 7 months pregnant!
The next day we toured Alcatraz and visited the WW2 ships that are docked at Fisherman's Warf. We also shopped at Ross, because it was the only place we could afford and it was 3 levels! Can you imagine the deals we found there? Oh man, it was exciting! Later that night, we walked thru Chinatown, but didn't really get anything except Jeff got some $2 tshirts. They do not bargain with you even a little. They wouldn't even knock of 15 cents. It was crazy. We didn't stay there too long before going back to the hotel. And as much as I would have loved to stay in SF longer, we were exhausted by Sunday morning. It was the perfect time to go home!
This past week, I tried to get everything organized and ready before starting school. I still have a couple more things to do, but I'm waiting for Brookie to wake up. Oh, and by the way, she is totally walking! I will post a video. She is walking everywhere now! I can't believe it. That also means that she tears my house apart in about 5 minutes. I can't keep up with her anymore hehe. But she is cuter than ever. I am going to miss her when I go to school. That is about all that is new with us for now! I'll post some pictures soon hopefully!

Red or blue?

Well, I have been accepted to BYU and the University of Utah for grad school. I thought it would be an easy decision, but I have no idea where I want to go now. lol. So I will be contemplating this for the next week or so. Jeff did the sweetest thing for me last night! He got my diploma framed and bought me Twilight to congratulate me on getting into BYU. I just love him! It totally made my week! So I wanted to share my morning with all of you. It's been crazy!! I babysit for one of my friends on Tuesdays and Thursdays while she is in school. Well, both her baby, Alec, and Brooklynn have been crazy! So Brook hates having her diaper changed now and will not hold still. So she escaped from me while I was trying to get a new daiper on, and next thing I know, she has peed on the floor! Ugh. Well, a little later, she was playing and slipped somehow and bit her tongue. That was sad. She cried so hard and was bleeding, but she wouldn't let me get a towel in there ti stop it. But she got over it surprisingly fast. So then Alec has a blowout. Those are not fun at all! It took like 5 wipes to clean it all up. So while I am closing up the dirty daiper, he rolls over and pees. Luckily I had him on the changing pad, but I turn him back over, and he is all wet. Oh man! So I wipe him down again! Then I finally got him a new diaper and a new outfit. I also had to wash Brook's bear. Somehow that got in the mess. And he doesn't like sleeping at my house so much, so I had to rock him to sleep. Luckily Brook was able to entertain herself while I did that. And she stayed out of trouble lol. So I finally got them both to sleep. Wow. Amanda...I wish you all the best of luck with your twins lol. (I'm sure it will be great but a little crazy at times) :)
In other news...Brookie is so close to walking!! She stands up on her own now. She can take one or two steps then falls. We usually are able to get her to do that by holding out treats for her to grab lol. It's so fun. I can't believe how fast she is growing up!
We visited my parents this weekend and took Brook swimming for the first time. She has the cutest swimsuit, and she had so much fun in the pool. It was great. My mom went crazy over her. She didn't get much done while we were there haha. She also couldn't resist buying her several adorable summer outfits. She's such a cute grandma hehe.
Well, the babies didn't sleep long so I must go! AAHH! :)

Chuggin along...

Well I thought I should follow up with my last post. Our Valentine's Day was a little disappointing--even tho there wasn't much to expect. We went to dinner with some friends, but we still waited an hour with a reservation. Brooklynn was being difficult--she wanted to be held the whole time. I didn't mind that because I am used to it, but it didn't feel like a date at all! I decided we are never going out to dinner on Valentine's Day again! We will have a nice date at home! lol. It is too crazy going out in all that madness. However, our Anniversary was nice. (We celebrated 3 years on the 17th!). My friend, Anita, babysat for us, so we got to go on a real date! We went to Ruby River for dinner, which was ok. We didn't know how to be alone together tho haha. Has anyone else run into that problem? It was like Brooklynn has been acting as a buffer, and with her gone, we had nothing to talk about! Don't get me wrong tho--we still had a fun time, and I was excited to be on a date with him after so long. He's so cute! After dinner, he took me to Confessions of a Shopaholic! I couldn't believe it! I offered to let him see Taken, but he said we could see Shopaholic, which is my new favorite movie! I haven't laughed so hard at a movie since Get Smart. Jeff actually enjoyed it himself. He is so sweet to me!
In other news...I am interviewing on Thursday at BYU for Grad School...I am terrified out of my mind! This is like the most important interview of my life so far...I'm freaking out! I have to meet with a panel of teachers, which that in itself is scary. Then I have to write a response to a question about the field. I have been reviewing my textbooks, but here's to hoping for the best! I just really want to go to BYU so we don't have to move, and because I loved it there! But I know it is in the Lord's hands!
Poor Jeff has been trying to figure out what to do with his life. He is sick of his current job. He plans to go back to school after I finish, if not before. He is dying to move on, but he doesn't know what to move on to. He's considered Accounting, Dental Hygiene, Nursing, Architecture, and Construction Management. But he has found something he dislikes about all of those. If any of you have some suggestions, feel free to pitch in.
Brooklynn is literally all over the place. It's kinda fun because I'll tell her to folllow me, and she does. She is very good at entertaining herself--I just wish it didn't always involve tearing apart the house! haha. She is getting so close to walking. She will use my arm or something to push herself onto her feet, then just stand there for several seconds without holding on to anything. It's awesome! And she's just such a goofball. I love all her noises. I love everything about her, let's be honest. I'll try to post some new pictures sometime in the near future!

Wedding Pics!

My Best Friend's Wedding!

My best friend, Anita, got married on Friday. It was a wonderful day! The ceremony was inspiring. Their love and happiness was even more inspiring! They were just glowing with joy! I was so grateful to be a part of that special day. It was wonderful to be reminded of that exciting "newlywed love." I just love her so much, and I was so happy that the day turned out perfectly for her. It was raining that morning and evening, but stopped long enough for their pictures at the temple. The reception was gorgeous and fun. They had dancing...I got one dance out of Jeff, and he complained the whole time about how much he hates dancing! That was a little depressing. I was hoping he could not hate dancing while he was dancing with me, but what can you do. As a humorous twist, Dean (Anita's husband) lost his suitcase, so they couldn't make as quick a getaway as they hoped. It was really funny.
In other news...Brooklynn is officially mobile! She started crawling and pulling herself up on anything she can get her hands on in the same week! She sure keeps us busy now! And she is so loud!! Church is embarrassing cause she makes so much noise. (Usu. happy noise) And as a pleasant surprise, she has started sleeping through the night! She sleeps from about 10 to 8 or 9! It is wonderful! The downside is, she doesn't nap so much and puts up a big fuss when we try to lay her down for naps. But I think it is worth sleeping through the night! Maybe my body can get back on a normal schedule!
Jeff and I realized that we are a really boring couple. We sold our TV saturday and bought a new one yesterday. So in the two days we did not have a TV, we did not know what to do! We tried playing cards, but that lasted 10 minutes. We just sat there wallowing in our lameness! haha. And to make matters worse...I asked Jeff what our plans for Valentine's day are since it will probably be our Anniversary celebration as well, and he said he didn't know I wanted to do anything! And he kept asking why he had to plan it! Men...I swear...they need help!
Well, I must go change a stinky diaper now...yay!

The Girls...

Life is great!

I just wanted to let everyone know I changed the privacy settings on our blog after some complaining from a few of my friends lol. So I'm pretty sure it's no longer private. I'm hoping it makes it easier for you guys to read!

Anyway...I had the most fabulous weekend. Jeff and I finally went to the temple for the first time in 6 months! I felt a little lost at first, but I caught on qucikly hehe. It was wonderful to go back. I hope we get better about going. My brother and grandma watched Brooklynn for us while we went. They had a blast. They got a kick out of all the quirky little things she does, like stick her thumb in her mouth after every bite of food you feed her and make lots of crazy noises. They even got her to clap, which we missed! Aaron decided he could not have one of "these" while he was in school cause he would never get anything done lol.

Later that day, I had the exciting opportunity to spend some time with 2 of my old roommates, whom I love! Amanda and Elise came over. Elise was visiting from the far away land of Virginia, so we had to get together of course! She brought her two kids. Ashley is the youngest...she is Brooklynn's age, and we have already decided they are going to be roommates so we took some pictures of them together. (Don't worry Tori, we didn't forget about Katrina!) Ashhley is a beautiful baby! And Everett was a little shy, but he is growing up so fast! Amanda brought her two little "buns in the oven," not they have a choice from where they are sitting hehe. She is getting big fast, and it is so cute! I'm so excited for her. Brooklynn will get to pick which one of her boys to date when they grow up! haha! It was just so fun to come together and see how far we all have come since our freshman year. It made me miss those days a little bit. I will have to pose those pictures in a slideshow cause I took a lot and they are so cute!
