Overcoming colic
It's been an eventful couple of days! Brooklynn started spitting up a lot a few days ago. I tried feeding her less, and that went better for a few hours. Well then the crying started. Monday morning at like 6 she just started screaming right after I had fed her. Nothing I did calmed her down. I started crying because I could tell she was hurting, and there was nothing I could do. I had Jeff give her a blessing, and she eventually calmed down. Well, that night she had another episode. She just screamed for like two hours. That's when I decided she was colicky. So we started feeding her formula, and she started feeling better almost instantly. By Tuesday afternoon she was a totally different baby. She has been so happy ever since. She's even making cute cooing sounds and she doesn't demand to be held all the time. She just sits on the couch and kicks around. It's so cute! I am a little sad because I was really enjoying breastfeeding her (and that's a lot cheaper :)). But since she is doing so much better on formula, I just don't know if I should keep trying to breastfeed. If anyone has suggestions, I am open! In other news...I have started reading again. I forgot how much I love reading!! Carol Warburton is the author if anyone is looking for some good books. Right now I am reading Midnight Whispers, and I love it!! I love it so much I am not getting anything else done besides feeding and changing Brook! haha.

I'm sorry that Brookie isn't feeling well. I'm not a mom but I have heard of people changing their diet to help with colic. You could talk to you doctor to see what foods you could avoid which might upset her stomach. Just an idea. I'm glad you are enjoying reading, maybe I'll start reading at work!
This happened with my 1st child also. It turned out it was a certain type of food I was eating that was causing her tummy to hurt. As soon As I knocked it out of my diet she was fine. Most of the time it is caused by gassy/fatty or greasey foods, but with my daughter it was because of CHOCOLATE, so for 10 months straight I couldn't have any chocolate! Formula is easier though, and it's totally up to the MOM and what she is comfortable with!!
Oh how sad, it's sad to see your child hurting and sometimes nothing you do can comfort them. I was talking to my husband who is going to school to become a doctor and he stated that a lot of the times whatever the mom is eating is what the baby is getting and most the time chocolate is main the factor, but he recommends you check your pediatrician (which I'm sure you'll do)....you'd think I would know this stuff because I'm a mom.
Hi Chels, cute pictures. We had problems with Katrina being super fussy at night and eating constantly. We would try feeding her formula in the evening after breastfeeding and that helped. Sometimes she still has problems at night, so I asked my pediatrician and she said that for some reason, breastfed babies usually are fussy in the evening, possibly because that's when milk production is at its lowest.
Oh, and we also got this stuff called gripe water. You can get it off the internet or at Walgreens, but it's supposed to be for colicky babies. It settles their upset stomachs. It usually works for us when nothing else does. It also cures hiccups immediately.
Good luck, and don't feel bad if you have to give up on breastfeeding! But if you want to continue, those are the tips that worked for us.
